Ivgi&Greben will be seen this summer in Onegin by Opera Spanga
We are proud to announce that we have a collaboration with Opera Spanga this summer. “Evgeny Onegin…” Never has a name in a theatrical work been uttered with more desire than by Tatyana in the opera Evgeny Onegin by the composer of composers Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, based on the novel of the same name by Aleksandr Pushkin. Rarely was a woman rejected more painfully than Tatyana by Yevgeny.
This opera, bursting at the seams, opera invites even more than singing. Opera Spanga asked Ivgi&Greben, the international dance company, based in our own province of Fryslân, to transform this unsurpassed painfully romantic opera into theater that is unparalleled.
From 20 July to 5 August we play in Spanga in a half-open tent with a view of the endless birch landscape of the Rottige Meente.
You will see Aylin Sezer as Tatjana, David Visser as Yevgeni Onegin, Itzel Medicigo as Olga, Juan Carlos Echeverry as Lenski, Catrin Wyn Davies as Larina, Annelies Lamm as Filippjevna, Galen Dole as Vorst Gremin and Aaike Nortier as Monsieur Triquet, the Spanga Festival Choir and Orchestra and the powerful dancers of Ivgi&Greben under the musical direction of Tjalling Wijnstra, directed by Corina van Eijk, Uri Ivgi and Johan Greben.
The artistic team consists of Tania Ballve Fernandez (costume design), Pieter van Rooy and Edu de Jonge (set design), Henk Post (lighting design), Laura de Jonge (makeup&hair design). Production is in the hands of Ype Terwisscha van Scheltinga and Ewa Pradzynska-Kostecka.
Performance dates: July 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, August 1, 3 and 5
