In the distance, near the shoreline, they perceived a small group of people. Then, a bright beam of light appeared; a corridor of light that, in the end, touched the group of dancers. From this moment, a choreography unfolded that began with large shapes and gestures in the distance, gradually approaching the audience and revealing increasing individual expression with growing tension. Due to the intensity of the dynamics and especially the visual impact of the frozen tableaus, dance critic Kester Freriks recognised a connection with painting:

“Ivgi&Greben use a visual language that belongs to the collective memory, giving Beam on the Beach great, charged relevance.”

“…you keep watching their driving, rhythmic movements, which may seem insignificant in the vast space but generate immense theatrical power. Ivgi&Greben use this location so ingeniously.”

From the Leeuwarder Courant: The most memorable moment this year? Beam on the Beach by Ivgi&Greben. Eelco: “I got goosebumps, right there on the beach. The wind playing with the dancers’ clothing, the sun just shining over the beach… Certainly the most beautiful experience.”

Did you miss Beam on the Beach? Then come and watch the film on the big screen in the Ivgi&Greben studio. The footage includes stunning close-up and distant shots, with aerial shots from a drone bringing the outdoor experience indoors. The film showcases dramatic and virtuosic close-ups of the dancers, adding extra depth to the performance.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE

7:30 PM – Introduction and welcome
8:00 – 8:30 PM – Film screening

We warmly invite you to attend the studio presentation.
